It's a slow game, but I find the gameplay to be elegant and thoughtful, more so than just bam bam pew pew action! You get more vehicles and tools along the way, and eventually you can start gathering resources and building these massive Zipline networks and just blast your way over a mountain top that was once the bane of your existence. Every run has this sort of risk vs reward factor to it, and the player needs to think and assess that. So there is a stealth element too, that you need to think and chart the best routes to avoid threats, but sometimes that means having to traverse more dangerous terrain. But the terrain is treacherous, certain enemies are basically invisible, MULES (bandits) will steal your cargo, etc. In a way, the game I would most compare the game play to is actually SnowRunner. The story is BONKERS, but I think the gameplay is really just what doesn't click for a lot of people.
BEST GAMES OF 2017 EUROGAMER PC
So I was pretty eager to play it again on PC and Game Pass finally twisted my arm. It's probably one of my absolute favorite games of gen 8. I put about 130 hours in and platinumed it when it came out on PS4. Sat 27th Aug This is actually my second time playing it.It’s a shame I wasn’t old enough to play this game when it was distributed to the public because, if I recall correctly, it was released the day of Halloween in 1991 - a perfect game to play during that celebration. Moreover, it doesn’t overstay its welcome it can be completed in a couple of hours. It’s such an atmospheric game with an incredible soundtrack that sets the tone immediately. This game doesn’t get talked about enough, but it should because it’s fantastic. Now that I’ve beaten ALtoTP, I’m going to start Super Castlevania IV (Nintendo Switch, Castlevania Anniversary Collection). It transcended gaming, and became incredibly influential. It’s insane to think about how amazing this game was for its time. There were only two instances where I had to look at a guide for help - but none of them were regarding collectible items I found those all organically. I might be late to the party, but this will easily go down as one of my favorite games of all time. This game is a masterclass in game design, and so inventive for its time. I finally played and beat The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past.
